About Firebrand

Firebrand Technologies—along with its sister company NetGalley LLCis more than a software and services company. We are an active partner in the book publishing business, providing steadfast leadership and seamless information flow throughout the entire publishing process. It is what we love and what we do—every day, for more than 35 years.

Firebrand was founded by Fran Toolan as Quality Solutions, Inc. in 1987. Fran believed the publishing industry was a unique and creative business, yet needed efficient tools and workflow processes to thrive and be profitable. Through his leadership, Firebrand Technologies set the stage for and built tools that have accentuated the creativity in publishing.

In February 2021, Firebrand was acquired by Media Do International (MD-i), the US-based subsidiary of Japan’s Media Do Co., Ltd, one of the largest ebook distribution companies in the world retaining the largest share of Japan’s $4.5 billion eBook market. Angela Bole, the former CEO at the Independent Book Publishers Association, succeeded Fran Toolan as Firebrand Group CEO on February 1, 2023. Fran currently remains on the Firebrand Group Board of Directors.
