Ebook metadata shares many similarities with printed book metadata; however, there are some key differences that can help you boost their sales and visibility. Here are some ebook metadata suggestions for you to consider:
Keywords: Different keywords might be more successful for ebook formats versus print, but they don’t normally differ very much. Consider including keywords regarding the format, ebook awards won, and accessibility features.
Accessibility: Was your ebook made with accessibility features in mind, such as page navigation or image descriptions? Is the display customizable regarding font size and/or color? Are there sound or flashing hazards that could cause a physical reaction?
Digital Rights Management (DRM): Your ebook may have DRM applied to prevent unauthorized copyright or sharing. That may be specified in the metadata.
Links & Other Multimedia Elements: Some ebooks contain hyperlinks and other multimedia content, such as embedded audio/video and interactive quizzes. Be sure to mention these features!
Updates / Revisions: If your ebook has been updated or revised after publication, it is a best practice to indicate that in your metadata so users know they are downloading the latest version of the book.
