Chief Technology Officer (CTO)

Firebrand Group—a global collection of companies including Firebrand Technologies, NetGalley LLC, and Supadu Ltd—is seeking a results-oriented Chief Technology Officer (CTO) to lead and refine it’s overall technology strategy, ensuring scalability, security, and efficiency across multiple product lines. The right person will be a technical visionary. They will have the ability to inspire and lead cross-functional teams to excellence in product development, while documenting and enforcing best in-class scalability and security policies. An emphasis will be placed on growing and building a global engineering organization. Reporting to the CEO, this role will develop a deep understanding of the market and competitive landscape in order to set the company’s vision for engineering excellence. We are a 100% remote company.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Provide sound leadership and guidance to the technical staff, ensuring all teams are aware of and aligned with the company’s technology strategy and roadmap
  • Ensure the collective creation of policies and protocols to increase efficiency and remove inconsistently applied workflows; encourage staff across all levels to participate and put forth ideas for improvement in these continuous processes
  • Work with the CEO and company directors to enable growth within the staff, by fostering an environment of trust and teamwork, as well as personal growth and exploration by encouraging staff to step out of their comfort zone and try new things—this may include additional responsibilities or leadership roles, working in new areas as part of cross-functional teams, fostering and encouraging continuous learning and education, etc.
  • Develop and own goals, roadmaps and delivery dates to help the company scale quickly and sustainably
  • Ensure internal processes and services comply with privacy, accessibility, and security regulations including GDPR and CCPA; continue company efforts to become SOC 2 and ISO 27001 compliant
  • Develop, track, and control the development of annual operating budgets for purchasing, staffing, and operations
  • Track, analyze, and monitor technology performance metrics
  • Keep abreast of new trends and best practices in the technology landscape
  • Take the initiative in thought leadership, innovation, and creativity
  • Work closely with the CEO and company directors to align technology initiatives with business objectives and foster a culture of collaboration
  • Work with engineering managers to define best practices around coding methodologies, software development, and quality assurance
  • Audit engineering best practices, coding standards, and development methodologies to ensure the successful delivery of high-quality software solutions that are scalable and secure

To be successful in this role, we ask that you have:

  • 15+ years of technology experience with at least 5 years in a leadership role
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to merge technology relevant decisions with the company’s results and objectives
  • Experience building and scaling products within both B2B and B2C environments that are secure and scalable
  • Strong knowledge of software development methodologies, including agile and waterfall
  • Strong experience in security protocols and guiding a company toward SOC 2 and ISO 27001 compliance
  • A thoughtful and proven approach to hiring, mentoring, and scaling a top-notch engineering team
  • Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire cross-functional teams
  • An attention to detail and deadlines
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field

Your qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 5+ years experience
  • Knowledge of MVC, C# .Net, and SQL Server
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Knowledge of web services and protocols, REST API design, PHP, and the Symfony framework are helpful but not required
